Hurricane Information & Association Plans
In the event of a hurricane, individual communities need to prepare common areas. Homeowners need to prepare their own homes and properties. If you have storm shutters, screens, etc. please arrange to have them installed and seek assistance from vendors sooner rather than later to ensure your home is protected. Properly secure property on your lanai. Remove door mats and any other personal property you may have outside your home so that items do not become a liability in the high winds.
Create or restock your disaster kit, which should include nonperishable food items and water for several days along with a working flashlight, extra batteries, chargers, cash and first aid supplies. It is helpful to have a battery-operated radio as well.
Prepare and keep a written inventory and photos of home contents. Check your insurance coverage and understand what you have. Keep important documents in a safe place. Keep several days of prescriptions on hand as pharmacies may be closed. Cash on hand is also recommended as banks may be closed, and ATMs may not be operational.
Monitor media for evacuation orders and leave the area if necessary. Plan what to do with pets if evacuation is necessary. Have a family member or friend that you can contact to let them know you are safe. Glen Eagle cannot act as a shelter and our staff will be taking care of their own families. You must be responsible for your own safety.
After any storms take pictures of any damage, stay away from large debris and frayed wires. Normal trash collections will resume as soon as it is safe for collection crews to do so. Debris collection guidance and recovery process updates will be available through local media or on county government websites.
Homeowners not in Naples should discuss the status of their home with their home watch person as neither their property management company nor Glen Eagle will have knowledge of their specific property.
